FORTIS AD5205 is a D4 general-purpose, single-component moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive developed for timber bonding, woodworking, construction and general industrial assembly.
The 100% solids, solvent-free formulation combines high bond strength with a 20-minute working time, providing additional assembly time compared with fast-cure polyurethane adhesives. A typical clamp time of approximately 60 minutes makes AD5205 well suited to workshop, construction and production applications.
AD5205 bonds a wide range of porous and compatible non-porous materials including hardwood, softwood, plywood, MDF, plasterboard, fibre cement, EPS polystyrene foam, concrete, brick, selected metals and other compatible substrates.
Typical applications include furniture manufacture, cabinetry, joinery, doors and windows, timber assembly, shop fitting, construction bonding, panel assembly and general industrial fabrication.
The adhesive develops a slight foaming action during cure, which can assist with minor surface irregularities. Once cured, AD5205 provides excellent water and heat resistance and can be sanded, painted or stained.
AD5205 cures using moisture from the substrate or atmosphere. At least one bonding surface should contain sufficient moisture for effective cure. Very dry substrates may require light misting with water before assembly.
For best results, surfaces should be clean, correctly prepared and properly clamped or supported during the initial cure. Compatibility testing is recommended for coated metals, plastics and unfamiliar substrates.
Single-Component Moisture-Curing Polyurethane
FORTIS AD5205 is applied directly to one bonding surface. Apply approximately 100–200 g/m² depending on substrate porosity, surface condition and the materials being bonded.
AD5205 requires moisture to cure. Timber will normally contain sufficient natural moisture. For very dry timber or other dry porous substrates, lightly mist or wipe the surface with water before adhesive application.
When bonding porous to non-porous materials, the porous substrate should contain sufficient moisture to support the curing process.
Assemble components within the 20-minute working time and apply sufficient clamping pressure or support to maintain close contact between the bonding surfaces.
Typical clamp time is approximately 60 minutes at 20°C and 65% relative humidity. Temperature, humidity, substrate moisture and material type may influence working and cure times.
Metals should be clean and free from oil, grease, oxidation and other contaminants. Abrading suitable metal surfaces may improve adhesion.
Always conduct a bonding trial when using coated metals, plastics or unfamiliar substrates.
For faster timber assembly, consider Fortis AD5105 with a 10-minute working time. For larger or more complex assemblies requiring additional positioning time, use Fortis AD5405.

AD5205 is suitable for many porous-to-porous and porous-to-non-porous bonding applications where sufficient moisture is available for cure.
Surfaces must be clean and free from dust, oil, grease and other contaminants. Timber joints should be close fitting for maximum bond strength.
Very dry porous substrates may be lightly misted or wiped with water to assist cure. When bonding metals, plastics, coated surfaces or unfamiliar materials, compatibility testing is recommended before production use.
AD5205 does not bond polyethylene or polypropylene.
