Product Application

Preparation: Ensure the substrate or existing coating is correctly prepared, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease and contaminants that may affect adhesion.

Mixing: Combine Part A and Part B at the specified 4:1 ratio. Mix thoroughly using a low-speed mechanical mixer while minimising air entrainment. Prepare only enough material for use within the approximately 45-minute pot life.

Application: Apply Coat 527 evenly using a suitable roller. For floors, pour mixed material in ribbons across the surface and distribute using a 5-8 mm nap microfibre roller. Maintain an even film and wet edge.

Epoxy & Flake Floors: Apply Coat 527 Clear over compatible epoxy or decorative flake flooring as the final protective polyurethane topcoat. Ensure the underlying coating is within its specified recoat window or mechanically abrade before recoating.

Coverage: Approximately 5–10 m²/L, depending on the substrate, surface profile and required film thickness.

Recoat: Approximately 8–24 hours. Avoid heavy traffic for approximately 4 days. Final cure is approximately 7 days.

Surfaces

Suitable Surfaces: Fortis Coat 527 is suitable as a clear protective topcoat over compatible epoxy coatings, decorative flake floors, prepared concrete and other compatible resin flooring systems.

Epoxy Floors: Coat 527 is recommended as a premium protective topcoat over compatible epoxy flooring where increased abrasion, wear and chemical resistance are required.

Decorative Flake Floors: Ideal as the final clear protective wear coat over compatible broadcast flake flooring systems. Remove loose flake and ensure the underlying coating is correctly prepared before topcoating.

Concrete: Concrete must be sound, clean, dry and correctly prepared. Diamond grinding is recommended for most flooring applications. New concrete should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.

Existing Coatings: Existing coatings must be firmly bonded and compatible. Apply within the specified recoat window or mechanically abrade to provide a suitable key. Confirm adhesion on a representative test area before proceeding.
