Fortis AD5505-S is a single-component, moisture-curing structural polyurethane timber adhesive developed for glue lamination applications requiring extended assembly and layup time.
With a working time of less than 50 minutes, AD5505-S provides additional time for assembling larger or more complex laminated timber components before pressing. This makes it particularly suited to slower production processes, manual layup and applications where extended working time is required.
The adhesive provides excellent adhesion to a wide range of timber species, including dense Australian hardwoods, imported hardwoods, Radiata pine and other softwoods. Its moisture-curing polyurethane chemistry produces a strong, water-resistant bond with slight expansion during cure.
AD5505-S is designed for demanding structural timber applications and meets EN 302 / AS/NZS 4364:2010 requirements. It is also certified by the Glued Laminated Timber Association of Australia under GLTAA Certificate #007.
Its combination of structural bond performance and extended working time makes AD5505-S particularly suited to professional timber processors manufacturing glue-laminated beams and other large engineered timber components.

Ensure all bonding surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease and other contaminants that may interfere with adhesion.
Fortis AD5505-S is designed for structural timber lamination and engineered wood bonding where extended assembly and layup time is required. Accurate machining and close wood-to-wood contact are essential for achieving optimum structural bond performance.
Apply AD5505-S evenly at the application rate specified in the current Technical Data Sheet. A fine water mist applied to the timber may assist the moisture-curing reaction where recommended for the timber species and processing conditions.
Assemble and press the timber components within the specified working time. AD5505-S provides a working time of less than 50 minutes under specified conditions, allowing additional assembly time for larger or more complex laminated timber components.
Suitable and consistent bonding pressure must be maintained during cure. The current product information recommends a minimum pressure of approximately 1400 kPa for laminating applications.
Processing and cure times can vary depending on timber species, moisture content, adhesive temperature, ambient temperature and humidity.
During cold weather, maintain the adhesive at an appropriate processing temperature. An adhesive temperature of approximately 20–30°C is recommended for consistent application and cure performance.
Refer to the current Fortis AD5505-S Technical Data Sheet for application rate, working time, clamping time and complete processing requirements before production use.
Suitable substrates and applications include:
• Australian hardwoods
• High-density hardwoods
• Imported hardwoods
• Radiata pine
• Softwoods
• Solid timber
• Engineered timber products
• Glue-laminated timber
• Laminated structural beams
• Large laminated timber components
• Suitable structural timber components
Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease and other contaminants that may interfere with adhesion.
Excellent wood-to-wood contact is essential for structural lamination. Timber components should be accurately machined to provide close and consistent contact across the bonded surfaces.
Timber moisture content, species, density, temperature and production conditions can influence adhesive cure and bond performance.
Where recommended, a fine water mist may be applied to assist the moisture-curing reaction.
For laminating applications, suitable and consistent bonding pressure must be maintained during cure. Refer to the current Technical Data Sheet for processing requirements.
Production trials should be carried out when introducing new timber species, laminated sections or manufacturing conditions.
