FORTIS AD5505-S is a single component, moisture curing structurally certified polyurethane timber adhesive with 50-minute open time. It is used where slower layup of the glue lamination is required. It reacts with moisture within the timber to provide a superior bond for load-bearing timber applications.

AD5505-S Structural Wood Adhesive is a single-component, water-resistant glue. It is designed for structural wood lamination. The adhesive cures very quickly and produces a slight foaming effect. Because it cures fast, FORTIS AD5505-S works well with machine and manual application. It is ideal for beams, I-beams.

FORTIS AD5505-S works well with all types of finger joints; however, comb-style joints are the most common. Moreover, it bonds a wide variety of woods, ranging from dense Australian and Indonesian hardwoods to softer woods. Before bonding, therefore, make sure both surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust and grease.
Assembly time varies depending on the wood type. As a general rule, it is best to allow at least 2 minutes of total assembly time when using the recommended water misting. In addition, during cold weather, it is important to keep the adhesive warm—ideally between 20 and 30°C. If needed, Fortis can assist with setting up simple heated rooms.
Finally, FORTIS AD5505-S uses less adhesive compared to traditional wood glues and resins. This makes it both efficient and cost-effective. It’s especially suited for bonding engineered wood products. Manufacturers gain from its strong bonding power while using less material. Plus, it’s a greener option for the environment.
Excellent wood-to-wood contact is essential for strong bonding. A good mechanical fit is needed for finger-jointing. For laminating, internal or bonding pressures should be at least 1400 kPa to get the best results. Laboratory tests have also shown that applying a water mist to the wood helps improve performance with FORTIS AD5505-S.
