Potassium/Lithium Concrete Densifier

Concrete Shield™ Potassium/Lithium Concrete Densifier is a ready-to-use, water-based silicate densifier designed to harden, dustproof and improve the abrasion resistance of new and existing concrete. Its potassium and lithium silicate blend penetrates the concrete surface and reacts with calcium hydroxide to form a denser, harder surface, making it ideal for polished concrete floors, warehouses, factories, garages and other high-traffic concrete areas.

Information

Concrete Shield™ Potassium/Lithium Concrete Densifier is designed to increase the hardness, durability and abrasion resistance of concrete surfaces while reducing surface dusting.

The potassium and lithium silicate blend penetrates into the concrete and reacts with available calcium hydroxide to form additional calcium silicate hydrate within the surface structure. This reaction helps densify the concrete rather than forming a topical coating.

Concrete Shield™ Densifier is particularly suited to polished concrete systems, where progressive densification helps produce a harder surface capable of developing a higher-quality polished finish. It can also be used as a surface hardener and dustproofing treatment on industrial and commercial concrete floors.

Suitable for new or existing concrete, Concrete Shield™ Densifier can be used in warehouses, factories, workshops, retail areas, car parks, garages and residential polished concrete floors.

For premium polished concrete systems and later stages of the grinding process, consider Concrete Shield™ Premium Lithium Densifier.

Product Application

As Polished Surface Hardener

Apply Concrete Shield™ Densifier as an undiluted coat. Coverage is about 5–8 m² per litre, depending on how porous the surface is. To help absorption, scrub the product into the concrete with a stiff-bristle broom or floor scrubber for at least 30 minutes. Keep scrubbing until the surface feels slippery or the product thickens. Next, lightly mist the surface with water, then work the product in again for 10–20 minutes. Rinse the floor thoroughly afterward. Use a squeegee and wet vacuum to remove any excess product. Avoid letting the product pool or gather in spots, as this can cause problems.

For very porous or broom-finished surfaces, a second coat may be needed. Apply it 2–4 hours after the first coat dries.

As Densifier in Grind/Polish Systems

Spray the densifier between grinding steps. For best results, apply it once during the first grinding and again during the last. Do not apply the densifier during polishing.

Surfaces

  • Not suitable for natural stone surfaces.
  • Do not apply over areas treated with curing compounds or membrane sealers unless they have been fully removed.
  • Concrete Shield™ Densifier cannot fix damaged or crumbling concrete.
  • This product won’t work well on lightweight, very porous, or heavily worn concrete.

FAQs

What does a concrete densifier do?

It penetrates concrete and reacts within the surface to increase hardness, improve abrasion resistance and reduce dusting.

What is Concrete Shield™ Potassium/Lithium Densifier?

A ready-to-use, water-based potassium and lithium silicate blend for hardening and densifying new or existing concrete.

What is the difference between potassium/lithium and lithium densifier?

Potassium/lithium densifiers combine two silicates for effective concrete hardening. Lithium densifiers are often used in premium polished concrete systems and later polishing stages.

Can it be used on existing concrete?

Yes. It can be used on new or existing concrete that is clean, suitably prepared and able to absorb the densifier.

Is it suitable for polished concrete?

Yes. It hardens and densifies the surface, making it ideal for use during concrete grinding and polishing systems.

Does concrete densifier reduce dusting?

Yes. Hardening and densifying the concrete surface helps reduce dusting from weak or friable concrete.

Is a densifier the same as a concrete sealer?

No. A densifier reacts within concrete to increase surface hardness. A sealer provides additional surface protection against water, staining or contaminants.

How much densifier do I need?

Typical coverage is approximately 5–8 m²/L, depending on the porosity and condition of the concrete.

Can it be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. It is suitable for interior and exterior concrete surfaces requiring increased hardness and reduced dusting.
