Choosing the correct adhesive for woodworking is essential to ensure longevity, easy-of-use, and the overall aesthetics of the project. For most applications you will want to use a Polyurethane, PVA (polyvinyl acetate), or Epoxy glue. PVA: For simple, everyday timber projects, such as DIY, crafts, and hobby projects, Fortis AD317 PVA is the glue of choice. It is water-based and non-toxic, easy to apply and clean up, with minimal hazards. Epoxy: For knot-filling and boat-building applications, epoxy glues are required for their stability and salt water resistance. Fortis 822 Knot Filler provides unmatched clarity, fast cure time, and bubble release. Polyurethane: For general applications, polyurethane adhesives provide the most durable bonds. They are versastile, able to bond wood, most metals, and cement sheeting, and are fast becoming the industry standard for the commerical manufacture of doors, windows, and stairs.
For most projects, the right choice of polyurethane adhesive is Fortis AD5205. It is a universal, solvent-free, and long-lasting wood adhesive suitable for just about any application. However, for specific uses you may prefer a specialised product. For Vertical Application: Fortis AD515 is fast-curing, high-strength, and odourless, well suited for stair installation and gluing to joists. For General Use: Fortis AD5205 provides excellent water-resistance after curing, gap-filling, and can be coated and stained as desired. For Longer Working Time: Fortis AD5405 is also a universal wood adhesive, with a 40 minute working time.
