Static Mixers for Dual Cartridges

Disposable static mixing nozzles for controlled mixing and dispensing of compatible two-component cartridge materials. Designed to combine both components within the nozzle immediately before application.

Information

Fortis Static Mixers are disposable mixing nozzles designed for use with compatible two-component cartridge systems.

The internal mixing elements repeatedly divide and recombine the two material streams as they pass through the nozzle, producing a consistent mixture before the material reaches the application point.

Static mixers eliminate the need for manual mixing and allow two-component polyurea, epoxy, polyurethane and other compatible materials to be mixed and dispensed directly from a dual cartridge.

For concrete joint and crack repair, the appropriate static mixer can be used with Fortis AD525 Polyurea Joint Filler and the Fortis 600 mL Dual Component Cartridge Gun to create a complete portable dispensing system.

Mixer selection is important. Different materials, mix ratios, viscosities and reaction speeds may require different mixer configurations. Always use the static mixer recommended for the specific Fortis product being applied.

Static mixers are disposable. Rapid-curing materials can harden inside the nozzle during application delays, so a new mixer should be fitted if material begins to cure or flow becomes restricted.

Product Application

Select the static mixer specified for the two-component material being applied.

Install the dual cartridge into the appropriate cartridge gun. Remove the cartridge closure and ensure both components can dispense correctly before attaching the static mixer.

Attach the mixer securely to the cartridge outlet.

Dispense a small quantity of material through the static mixer and discard it until a uniform mixture and consistent flow are achieved. The cartridge system is then ready for application.

Apply the mixed material directly to the prepared joint, crack or repair area using steady pressure on the cartridge gun.

Rapid-curing materials may harden inside the static mixer if dispensing is interrupted for too long. If material begins to cure, flow becomes restricted or application is stopped beyond the product's allowable working period, release the cartridge-gun pressure and replace the mixer before continuing.

Static mixers are intended for single-use application and should not be cleaned for reuse.

Always refer to the Technical Data Sheet for the material being dispensed for the correct mixer, application procedure and working time.

Surfaces

Suitable applications include:

• Concrete control joint filling
• Concrete crack repair
• Construction joint repair
• Joint-edge and spall repair systems
• Two-component adhesive application
• Two-component repair resin application
• Polyurea cartridge systems
• Epoxy cartridge systems
• Polyurethane cartridge systems
• Industrial maintenance and repair

Static mixers do not determine substrate compatibility. Always refer to the Technical Data Sheet for the material being dispensed to confirm suitable substrates, preparation requirements and application conditions.

For Fortis AD525 Polyurea Joint Filler, use the mixer specified by Fortis for the AD525 dual-cartridge system

FAQs

What does a static mixer do?
A static mixer combines the two components of a cartridge material as they pass through internal mixing elements, producing a consistent mixture immediately before application.

Are all static mixers the same?
No. Mixer length, diameter, internal elements and cartridge connection can vary. Always use the mixer recommended for the specific product being applied.

Can a static mixer be reused?
Static mixers are designed as disposable application components. Once material begins curing inside the mixer, it should be replaced rather than cleaned and reused.

Why should material be dispensed before starting the repair?
Dispensing and discarding a small initial quantity helps confirm both components are flowing through the mixer and that a consistent mixture is being produced before application.

Why does material sometimes harden inside the static mixer?
Rapid-curing two-component materials continue reacting inside the mixer when dispensing stops. If application is interrupted for too long, the material can cure and block the nozzle.
