The best concrete driveway sealer depends on the type of concrete, its condition and the appearance you want to achieve. For most decorative driveways, the first decision is whether to use a water-based or solvent-based acrylic sealer.
Choose ConcreteShield™ AcrylaSeal where a lower-odour water-based acrylic sealer and clear semi-gloss finish are preferred. It is suitable for concrete, pavers, exposed aggregate and decorative surfaces.
Choose AcrylaSolv™ where stronger colour enhancement and a traditional solvent-based acrylic finish are desired. It is suited to properly prepared dry concrete, paving, exposed aggregate, stamped and decorative concrete.
Porosity affects sealer penetration, coverage and final appearance. Exposed aggregate, porous concrete and decorative paving can respond differently to dense or previously sealed concrete. Always test a small area before sealing the complete driveway.
The surface must meet the preparation and moisture requirements of the selected sealer. Remove dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds and poorly bonded existing coatings. Applying sealer over unsuitable or damp concrete can contribute to whitening, clouding or adhesion problems.
Sealing can reduce surface grip, particularly when the driveway is wet. Where additional slip resistance is required, use Fortis Non-Slip Additive where specified.
