Water-based Acid Stains are a liquid colouring agent that etches and permanently changes the colour of concrete. The final result is a powerful and dramatic concrete surface. Acid Stains are perfect for concrete floors, countertops, or indeed any concrete surface where you want a dramatic and eye-catching effect.
How does it work? Acid Stains utilize a combination of minerals and organic acids to penetrates the micro pores of the concrete. There, they force a chemical reaction between the lime within the concrete and the stain. Due to the reaction, the colour of the concrete will be permanently altered providing varied natural coloured marbled look.
Fortis Acid Stains have the added benefit of limited residue because they contain no Hydrochloric Acid (muriatic acid) — eliminating the need for neutralising. Furthermore, they can be sealed or left unsealed, and are completely UV stable. Acid stains may be harder to apply than other concrete coatings, but provide one-of-a-kind results.
