Fortis PAP improves the bond of polyurethane adhesives and coatings to difficult concrete, masonry, glass and other siliceous surfaces. This easy-to-apply single-component treatment is ideal where additional substrate adhesion is required before application of a compatible polyurethane system.

Information

FORTIS PAP is a specialist single-component adhesion promoter designed to improve bonding to difficult concrete, high-quartz and other cementitious or siliceous substrates.

Some dense or high-quartz concrete surfaces can be difficult for polyurethane coatings and adhesives to bond to reliably. PAP provides an adhesion-promoting treatment between the correctly prepared substrate and compatible polyurethane systems.

The low-viscosity formulation wets properly prepared mineral surfaces and provides additional bonding performance where conventional mechanical preparation alone may not provide the required adhesion.

Fortis PAP is particularly useful on high-quartz aggregate concrete, masonry and other difficult siliceous substrates. It can be applied by brush, roller or low-pressure spray before application of compatible Fortis polyurethane coatings or adhesives.

PAP is an adhesion promoter rather than a high-build coating or conventional film-forming concrete primer. Correct mechanical surface preparation remains essential before application.

Product Application

Preparation: Surfaces must be correctly prepared, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease, grinding residue and other contaminants that may interfere with adhesion.

Application: Apply Fortis PAP by brush, roller or low-pressure spray. Apply a thin, even coat sufficient to wet the prepared surface without flooding or puddling.

For roller application, use a suitable mohair roller. For brush application, use a high-quality wide brush and distribute the material evenly across the substrate.

Coverage: Typical coverage is approximately 10–20 m²/L depending on substrate porosity, surface profile and application method.

Drying: PAP is typically touch dry after approximately 2 hours.

Overcoating: Apply the compatible polyurethane coating or adhesive after a minimum of 4 hours and within a maximum of 24 hours.

Do not apply excessive material or allow PAP to flood or puddle on the surface.

Surfaces

High-Quartz Concrete: Fortis PAP is particularly recommended where high quartz or siliceous aggregate makes adhesion difficult. Mechanically prepare the surface before applying PAP.

Concrete: Concrete must be sound, clean, dry and free from laitance, curing compounds, oil, grease, dust and other contaminants. Diamond grinding is recommended for most flooring applications.

New Concrete: New concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days before preparation and application.

Masonry & Cementitious Surfaces: PAP can be used on compatible prepared masonry and other cementitious or siliceous substrates where improved polyurethane adhesion is required.

Existing Surfaces: Existing surfaces must be mechanically prepared and all contamination removed. Always confirm suitability and adhesion on a representative test area before proceeding.
