Most epoxy floors require two or three stages, depending on the product, concrete, traffic and finish. A coat may be a primer, build coat, colour coat or clear topcoat, so the complete system matters more than the number.

AquaCoat™ requires 2–3 coats. On prepared concrete, the first coat can act as the primer and may be diluted where specified. Apply later coats undiluted for consistent colour and protection.
Coat 823 HS is commonly installed as two high-build coats. Use 823 Prime or 820 Prime where separate priming is specified.
A flake system typically uses a primer or self-priming coloured base, broadcast flake and a compatible clear wear coat. Metallic systems use a prepared base followed by the decorative metallic epoxy layer and clear protection.
Coat 527 is recommended as a premium non-yellowing clear topcoat over compatible epoxy, flake and metallic systems. Where rapid curing and fast return to service are required, a compatible polyaspartic clear topcoat may be selected.
Porous concrete, colour changes, uneven absorption or demanding traffic may require another coat. Extra coating cannot compensate for poor preparation. Follow the specified coverage, film thickness and recoat window for every layer.
