Slip resistance is created by adding texture. Select aggregate for water, oil, traffic and cleaning conditions. More texture improves grip but makes cleaning harder.

Fortis Non-Slip Additive is mixed into compatible epoxy or polyurethane at 2–5%, or 20–50 g/L. Stir thoroughly and periodically during application for even distribution. It suits garages, workshops, walkways, stairs and general floors.
Use clean, dry, graded silica rather than building sand. A 0.3–0.6 mm grade provides a medium profile. Coarser 0.6–1.0 mm sand creates a more aggressive finish for wet areas, ramps and industrial floors. Broadcast into the wet coating, allow it to cure, then remove loose aggregate before applying a compatible seal coat.
Aluminium oxide is harder and more wear-resistant than silica. It suits ramps, loading areas and heavy traffic. A 16–36 mesh blend is about 0.5–1.2 mm; commercial blends can average 0.7 mm. Broadcast into the wet coat and lock it in with a compatible topcoat without burying the profile.
Aggregate size, broadcast rate, coating thickness and topcoat determine the result. Prepare a test area. Where a slip rating is specified, test the floor to the applicable standard. Follow safety information and control dust when handling silica or aluminium oxide.
