An epoxy primer seals concrete, improves adhesion and reduces uneven absorption. Selection depends on concrete condition, moisture, porosity and recoat speed.

Some Fortis epoxies can self-prime suitable prepared concrete. Use a primer where concrete is porous, weak, difficult or unevenly absorbent, or where the flooring specification requires one. Self-priming does not replace preparation.
823 Prime is a fast-curing solvent-based epoxy primer with excellent penetration and wetting. Choose it for dry, porous concrete beneath Coat 823 HS or decorative flake systems when rapid recoating matters.
820 Prime suits poor, porous or difficult concrete where consolidation and maximum adhesion are priorities. It can be used on suitably prepared slightly damp concrete without standing water. It is not a moisture vapour barrier.
Rising damp or significant moisture transmission requires moisture control rather than a conventional primer. Use HydroFort™ VB where specified.
Concrete must be sound, clean and free from laitance, dust, oil, grease and curing compounds. Diamond grinding is preferred. Check moisture and follow recoat windows.
