Rust Remover Gel vs Soak vs Concentrate: Which Should You Use?

Select a rust remover according to whether the component can be submerged, the area requiring treatment and the volume of solution needed. Rusted Solutions products are intended for compatible ferrous metals such as steel and cast iron.

When to Choose Gel

Use Gel when the item cannot be submerged or only one area requires treatment. Apply a thick, even layer and do not let it dry. In warm or exposed conditions, covering the wet gel with plastic film can extend contact time. Inspect after approximately 1–2 hours and repeat if heavy rust remains.

When to Choose Soak

Choose Soak when the complete component can be immersed. Liquid reaches threads, seams, pits and internal details that are difficult to treat mechanically. Rust removal may begin within an hour, while heavy corrosion may require longer or overnight treatment. The solution can be reused until its rust-removal capacity is exhausted.

When to Choose Concentrate

Concentrate prepares the same type of immersion bath economically for larger containers or repeated workshop use. One litre makes six litres of working solution. Measure the dilution accurately and label the prepared bath.

Before and After Treatment

Remove oil, grease, dirt and loose scale before treatment. Inspect periodically rather than relying only on elapsed time. When clean, rinse thoroughly, dry immediately and apply suitable corrosion protection. For decorative bare metals, consider ArmaLac Clear Metal Lacquer.

Test valuable, plated, coated or unfamiliar materials first. Wear the PPE specified in the current safety data sheet and keep the treatment solution away from incompatible metals and surfaces.
