Fortis Non-Slip Additive is a slip-resistant aggregate designed to be incorporated into compatible floor coatings to create a textured surface and improve grip underfoot. It is suitable for use with Fortis epoxy and polyurethane floor coating systems and can be added at different rates to adjust the degree of surface texture required.
The additive becomes distributed throughout the wet coating during application and remains exposed at the surface after cure, creating a textured finish that helps reduce the slip hazard associated with smooth coated floors. It is suitable for residential, commercial and industrial flooring including garages, workshops, warehouses, stairs, ramps and pedestrian areas.
The level of texture should be selected according to the application. Increasing the amount of additive generally produces a more pronounced surface profile but can also make the finished floor more difficult to clean. For areas exposed to water, oils or other contaminants, the required slip resistance should be considered as part of the complete flooring system.
For a complete slip-resistant flooring system, use Fortis Non-Slip Additive with a compatible Fortis floor coating such as AquaCoat™ Water-Based Epoxy, Coat 823 HS High-Solids Epoxy or a suitable Fortis polyurethane floor coating. Select the coating system according to the substrate, traffic, exposure and required finish.
Add Fortis Non-Slip Additive to the mixed floor coating at a recommended rate of 2–5% or approximately 20–50 g per litre of coating. Select the addition rate according to the degree of surface texture required.
Remove a small amount of coating from the container if necessary to provide sufficient mixing space. Slowly add the required quantity of Non-Slip Additive while stirring and mix thoroughly until evenly dispersed.
Apply the coating using the application method recommended for the selected Fortis floor coating. Continue stirring periodically during application to maintain even distribution and minimise settling of the additive.
Apply a small test area before coating the complete floor to confirm the required texture and final appearance. Higher addition rates produce a more pronounced surface profile but may reduce ease of cleaning.
Always follow the application, coverage, recoat and curing requirements of the Fortis floor coating being used.
